As imagens aqui apresentadas, Cosmos com abelha e Rododendro (2025) integram um projecto iniciado em 2008, desenvolvido ao longo de várias etapas e formatos: flores recebidas, flores dadas, flores encontradas, etc. Cada etapa corresponde a um modo de olhar, de escutar e da relação com o outro e com o mundo.
Este conjunto propõe uma experiência sensorial e emocional, onde cada flor transporta consigo uma origem, uma memória e um significado. As imagens organizam-se em trípticos, sugerindo uma leitura narrativa, quase íntima, em que o tempo e o olhar se desdobram.
A apresentação foi concebida especificamente para este espaço, respeitando as medidas da vitrine e o formato do envelope do projecto Mail Art – Caixa do Correio, reforçando a ideia de envio, de proximidade e de circulação afectiva da obra.

The images presented here, Cosmos with bee and Rhododendron (2025) are part of a project started in 2008, developed over different stages and formats: received flowers, offered flowers, found flowers, etc . Each stage corresponds to a specific way of looking, listening, and the relationship with the other and the world.This group proposes a sensory and emotional experience where each flower carries with it an origin, a memory, and a meaning. The images are arranged in triptychs, suggesting a narrative, almost intimate in which time and gaze unfold and expand.
The presentation was conceived specifically for this space, respecting the measurements of the window and the envelope format of the Mail Art – Mailbox project, reinforcing the idea of sending, proximity, and the affective circulation of the work.

Rita Barros, Lisboa (1957), vive em Nova Iorque desde 1980. Tem um mestrado em “Art in Media: Studio Art“ pela New York University e um BA em fotografia pela State University of New York. É professora de fotografia no departamento Art and Art Professions da NYU.
A sua primeira exposição foi em 1987 no PS 1 Contemporary Arts Center (MOMA), Nova Iorque. Desde então a sua obra fotográfica, de vídeo e livros de artista tem sido exposta regularmente em várias instituições salientando-se: Encontros de Fotografia de Coimbra (PT); Centro Português de Fotografia/Cadeia da Relação do Porto (PT); Wilfredo Lam Contemporary Art Museum, Havana (Cuba); Museu da Electricidade, Lisboa (PT); Museu de Arte Contemporânea de São Paulo (BR); Museu de Serralves, Porto (PT); Baltimore Contemporary Art Museum (US); International Center of Photography, NY (US); Kohler Arts Center, Wisconsin (US); Royal Academy of Arts, Londres (UK); Fundação Gulbenkian, Paris (FR); Museu de Arte Contemporanea de Madrid (ES); Center for Photography of Woodstock, NY (US); Anthology Film Archives, NY (US), entre outras.
O seu arquivo de retratos de escritores, músicos e artistas (representado pela Getty Images) é publicado regularmente na imprensa internacional.
Na sua bibliografia constam as seguintes monografias: “Quinze Anos: Chelsea Hotel”, Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, 1999; “BoHemia Life and Death in the Chelsea Hotel” com Jorge Calado, IST Press, 2015; “Rita Barros“ Coleção Ph #12, Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda, 2023.

Rita Barros, Lisbon (1957), lives in New York since 1980. She has an MA in “Art in Media:Studio Art”, from New York University and a BA in photography by the State University of New York. She teaches photography at NYU in the department of Art and Art Professions.
Her first exhibition was in 1987 at PS1 Contemporary Arts Center (MOMA), NY. Since then her work (photography, video and artists’ books) has been shown regularly in different institutions such as: Encontros de Fotografia de Coimbra (P); Centro Português de Fotografia/Cadeia da Relação, Porto (P); Wilfredo Lam Contemporary Art Museum, Havana, Cuba; Museu da Electricidade, Lisboa (P); Museu de Arte Contemporânea de São Paulo, (B); Museu de Serralves, Porto (P); Baltimore Contemporary Art Museum, Baltimore (US); International Center of Photography, NY (US); Kohler Arts Center, Wisconsin (US); Royal Academy of Arts, London (UK); Fundação Gulbenkian, Paris (F); Museu de Arte Contemporanea, Madrid (SP); Center for Photography of Woodstock, NY (US); Anthology Film Archives, NY (US) and many others.
Her archive of portraits of writers, musicians and artists (represented by Getty Images) is published regularly in the international press.
